Our Shire is located almost in the centre of Victoria and its main Towns are located around the Hume and Gouldburn Highways and also has the Melbourne to Sydney railway line running through it. We also have a quality airport located near Avenal.

Avenel

Near Mangalore Airport and Nagambie, Avenel is a growing township just over an hour from Melbourne. Avenel supports numerous industries and attractions.

Euroa

The largest of Strathbogie Shires Towns with a population of over 2,000 persons. It has major services for the area such as the Council's main office, Hospital, Nursing Home, Euroa Secondary College and two Primary Schools.

Longwood

A Township famous for its popular Hotel, and yet a peaceful rural area with a variety of residential properties. Home to the renowned Vinery (Equine Industry) Stud Operations (Victoria).

Nagambie

Situated on the Goulbourn Highway and adjacent to the magnificant Nagambie Lake, Nagambie is the Shire's second largest town hosting many facilities. Nagambie is a very busy place many times of the year with Lake and town based activities.

Ruffy

A gathering place for the rural community, Ruffy is a peaceful and beautiful place which has a well used hall, public oval, Church and other facilities and attractions.

Strathbogie

Strathbogie is another rural Township with many farms carrying out cropping, and breeding cattle and sheep. While in the area you will also see many koalas, kangaroos and other wildlife along the roadsides.

Violet Town

Violet Town is the Shire's third largest Town and has a very active community with many facilities to boast about. Violet Town still retains a rural outlook while having a blend of old and new residences about the place.
